And this is how a trip with the VW Beetle could look like for you and your companion:
In King Ludwig's footsteps through Bavaria
- Day 1: Neuschwanstein: Knights & Legends
This two-day classic-car tour starts in Munich and takes you from Lake Starnberg first to Hohenschwangau, where you will visit Neuschwanstein Castle, probably the most famous of the Bavarian royal castles. From the foot of the castle hill, you will approach the imposing fairytale castle. Neuschwanstein was planned by Ludwig II as a walk-in theater set and private residence. The castle only offered space for the king and his servants, not for the court. It is thanks to his passion for the mythical worlds and the music of Richard Wagner that Neuschwanstein was built and almost all the rooms seem to have been taken from the theater set of Lohengrin and Tannhäuser. The first day's leg of your classic-car tour takes you past Kochel am See and Benediktbeuern. Continuing eastward, you will reach Bad Tölz, from where you will drive on to Lake Tegernsee and Lake Schliersee. In the early evening you will reach Spitzingsee, 1,085 m above sea level, and take up quarters in our hotel at Spitzingsee, where you can relax in the AlpenSpa. Your dinner will be served in the hotel's own "König-Ludwig-Stube", in keeping with the theme of the trip. - Day 2: Herrenchiemsee: The Bavarian Versailles
The next morning, after breakfast, you will set off for Lake Chiemsee. From Prien, you will take a boat to Herreninsel, where you can visit Herrenchiemsee Castle, the Augustinian Canons' Monastery, and the King Ludwig II Museum. Herrenchiemsee Palace was intended to be a faithful copy of Versailles Palace in France, reflecting the pompous splendor and pageantry of the Sun King Louis XIV. Herrenchiemsee was the last major building project of King Ludwig II and remained unfinished in large parts, as it was not continued after his death in 1886, after eight years of construction. Nevertheless, Herrenchiemsee is one of the most beautiful palaces in Germany. Ludwig II spent the night in the Chorherrenstift, the old palace, during his visits to the construction site. Today you can visit the king's private chambers and the impressive Emperor's Hall. By boat you will return to Prien and from there you will start the last leg of your classic-car tour on country roads towards Munich.
We are looking forward to welcoming you!
